H’art Centre

2018 to Now

Not For Profit

H’art Centre is an award-winning, accessible arts hub in Kingston, Ontario where adults with disabilities and those facing barriers can enjoy and produce works in the arts. Their vision? To be Canada’s model for adults with disabilities, in thought and action, providing knowledge, experience, and proven programming.

In 2018, H’art selected Amplify to undertake a full-scale review of and revisioning for their brand, including their logo and the full scope of their marketing communications assets.

Through our Amplification discovery process, we began to understand the sheer complexity of the organization, and its internal and external audiences. We were able to define nine distinct target groups, and the messaging needed to reach them. We also coalesced H’art’s ‘businesses,’ moving from five to three. But what was our key insight for the renewal of their brand?

Our solution was to re-position H’art, moving from simply an art studio for adults with developmental disabilities (H’art Studio) to an ‘artistic hub’ that provides ‘Inclusive Arts For All Abilities,’ incorporating art, theatre, dance and specific arts training (H’art Centre). To support that significant shift, we developed a new mission, vision, and brand positioning statement.

The renewed inspirational H’art brand demanded a bold new creative palette: happy, hopeful, inclusive graphics and language, and a strong, clean, and colourful logo. We then rolled the new logo and brand creative treatments out across a veritable host of marketing materials, from letterhead to a dynamic new website that would allow the client to manage frequent updates easily.

‘inclusive arts for all abilities!’

Results

Did we provide value to the client? Katharine Porter, H’art’s Executive Director, shared that “AMPLIFY’s sensitivity to our vision, mission and target audience revealed them to be a valued partner. They are always easy to work with and bring fresh ideas and solutions to every challenge.”

In 2021, we undertook our latest work for H’art, a donation drive for The Mix, H’art’s new space to celebrate and accelerate inclusive arts in Kingston and beyond. Our efforts paid off, generating a 60% plus increase in donations, over-achieving the client’s target.
